TLDR: This books is AMAZING! A stunning new sci-fi book filled with realistic characters and plot that makes you think not just about the story, but about how truths exist in our world and how we fit into it。I was three pages in when I knew I was going to love this book。 Between stunning lines and realistic characters, I'm in love。 I appreciate the time taken to world build。 I find that rushing into plot and conflict can be very confusing for the reader。 But this book is not and paces this very TLDR: This books is AMAZING! A stunning new sci-fi book filled with realistic characters and plot that makes you think not just about the story, but about how truths exist in our world and how we fit into it。I was three pages in when I knew I was going to love this book。 Between stunning lines and realistic characters, I'm in love。 I appreciate the time taken to world build。 I find that rushing into plot and conflict can be very confusing for the reader。 But this book is not and paces this very well。 There's so many small intracies in the writing and character building that I appreciate and admire。 I love how Imogen tells time because isn't that how it would be in space, living a life predetermined for you? Instead of one or two months ago, she bases her memories as one or two Convents ago, using standard events。 Such a small detail that helps us become more immersed into the story Aslund created。Most importantly。。。 the plot and characters! Amazing! Fantastic! The plot is developed naturally。 Imogen's life has been overturned with grief and trying to continue living, while Aaslund skillfully introduces a conflict。 *potentially a minor spoiler about plot development, but not points!* Additionally, the Imogen's life isn't ignored。 Instead we see the influence of her grief and the overall plot onto her life。 Life keeps going。 Things happen, conflict happens, but life doesn't stop, and Aaslund surely doesn't make the mistake of writing that。 *okay they're over!*This book made me think so much。 About how I fit into life。 About how easily we can enjoy the lull of the known and what we're told。 It's not always easy to question the history we accept and the life we know。 But sometimes we learn something too important to ignore。 And sometimes we make mistakes along the way。 But that's life。 And that's real and true becausw life is messy。 And like that, Imogen is authentic and truly a well made character and someone I would be friends with。 She's authentic。 She acts in a real way, not perfect, and because of that she's perfect。Long story short, this book is amazing and I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE! I love the characters and I love the plot and I love the universe Anders created! I love sci-fi books but can lose interest fast if they're bad。 BUT this book is great and I couldn't stop reading it but didn't want it to end。 Bravo。 。。。more
